Skeletons Found Under Golf Course on Bald Head Island

Three sets of human remains were found by workers on Bald Head Island while renovating the golf course. Early opinions suggest the remains may be from Civil War soldiers or perhaps even earlier. At least one person suggested that the remains could be from a Native American.

The remains will be sent to Raleigh to be studied by State Archaeologists.

Meanwhile work on the golf course in on hold until State Archaeologists examine the site for more remains.
